The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 has officially entered its final stage after audiences voted through the last group of finalists during Thursday night’s second semi-final in Vienna.

Hosted in Austria’s capital following the country’s victory last year, the competition has once again delivered a mix of elaborate staging, emotional ballads and high-energy pop performances as countries battled for a place in Saturday’s Grand Final.

Twenty nations qualified through the two semi-finals, joining the automatic finalists Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and host nation Austria.

Millions of viewers are expected to tune in worldwide for the final on Saturday evening, making Eurovision one of the largest live television events of the year.

This year’s contest has already generated strong reactions online, with several performances becoming viral moments across social media platforms shortly after airing. Analysts and fan communities are now closely watching rehearsals, betting markets and streaming numbers ahead of the final vote.

Germany’s entry, performed by Sarah Engels with the song “Fire”, secured an automatic place in the Grand Final as part of the contest’s major financial contributors known as the “Big Four”.

Organisers also released the official running order for Saturday’s show following the conclusion of the second semi-final, a detail many Eurovision fans consider important because performance position can influence public voting patterns.

The Eurovision Song Contest continues to attract a massive international audience each year, combining music, television spectacle and cultural celebration in a format that has become a defining event on the European entertainment calendar.

The Grand Final takes place on Saturday night at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle.
